Now in its fifth year, the SFSU Toy Drive supports children and families in the Lakeview, Oceanview, Merced Heights, and Ingleside (OMI) communities during the holiday season. Coordinated by ICCE in collaboration with the Office of the President, the Toy Drive brings the campus community together to support local families and strengthen connections with our surrounding communities.
Toy Collection Dates
November 16 – December 10, 2026
Toy barrel locations coming soon.
New, unwrapped toys and gifts for children ages 0–12 are welcome.
There is a particular need for gifts for older children, ages 8–12.
Suggested Donations
- Gifts for ages 8–12, including LEGO sets, STEM activities, headphones, sports team gear, arts and crafts, remote-control vehicles, and other age-appropriate toys and gifts.
- Dolls representing diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Books featuring diverse characters, cultures, and experiences
- Sports equipment, including basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, skateboards, tennis racquets, and tennis balls
- Board games and puzzles
- Arts and crafts kits, including jewelry-making kits, markers, paints, and other craft supplies
- New stuffed animals
- Learning and sensory toys
- Baby toys and supplies, including wipes, rattles, and blankets
Please do not donate toy guns, including water guns, or other toy weapons.

Toys collected through the SFSU Toy Drive will support the Youth 1st OMI-Lakeview Annual Holiday Extravaganza on Friday, December 11, 2026, from 2:00–6:00 p.m. at Merced Heights Playground (801 Shields Street, San Francisco). This community event serves children and families from the OMI and surrounding communities through gifts, food, entertainment, and community resources.
Toy donations are tax-deductible.
Youth 1st, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, coordinates the distribution of donated toys for the OMI-Lakeview Holiday Extravaganza. If you need a donation receipt or Federal Tax ID information, please emailicce@sfsu.edu to request their Toy Donation Form.
Additional toys may also support the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
