San Francisco State University presents its 3rd annual SF State Toy Drive, an initiative to benefit the Lakeview, Oceanview, Merced Heights, and Ingleside (OMI) communities during the 2024 holiday season. Toys and gifts collected will be donated to the Holiday Extravaganza Toy Giveaway and Celebration, a free community-led event featuring food, activities, and holiday gift distribution to youth and families. The SF State Toy Drive is coordinated by ICCE in collaboration with the Office of the President.
Faculty, Staff, and Students are welcome to drop off donations from Nov. 6 - Dec. 11, 2024.
Toy barrels can be found at the following locations:
- ICCE office (HSS 206), Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- ADM building, 5th floor
- Student Union (Plaza Level - Ground floor), by the stairs across from the Information desk
- Parking and Transportation office (North State Drive): map
New, unwrapped toys and gift card donations are welcome; please drop gift cards at HSS 206
For the 2024 Holiday Extravaganza, our OMI and Lakeview community partners are asking us to help reach their goals of:
- 25 Bikes
- 50 Scooters
- 150 Gift Cards ($20 to $25 in value)
- 800 Toys (no toy guns, includes NERF and Blaster toys)
No gift is too small or too big!
Our only request is that the toys donated are new, unwrapped, and appropriate for youth between the ages of 0 (infant) and 17 years old.
Suggested donations:
- Ethnic Dolls - Aim is to boost the confidence and promote cultural understanding among young people
- Cultural Books- Children feel positive about themselves when they encounter characters in books that they can identify with.
- Sports Items- Basketballs, Footballs, Kickballs, Soccer Balls, Tennis Racquets, and Tennis Balls
- Board Games and Puzzles - These give children a chance to play and interact with their friends
- Arts and Crafts Items- Jewelry Making Kits, Markers, Crafts Kits, Paints
- Gift Cards - Gifts for Teens
- Stuffed Animals
- Learning and Sensory Toys
- Baby Toys and Baby supplies. Wet wipes, rattles, baby blankets
All donations will be distributed to youth and families in the Lakeview, Oceanview, Merced Heights, and Ingleside communities of San Francisco during the annual Holiday Extravaganza on December 13, 2024. This community-led event is hosted by Youth First, Invest Black SF, and the OMI and Lakeview Community Collaborative.
