💰 Financial Aid Review & Acceptance
Audience: All Fellows Who Have Been Conditionally Accepted (Domestic U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents and AB 540 Dream Act Students)
Financial Aid Eligibility
- As part of the selection process, we have worked closely with the Financial Aid Office to review your eligibility for College Corps funding.
- For most Fellows, your financial aid eligibility has been reviewed and you have been determined eligible to participate in the program.
- For some AB 540 Fellows:
- You may have received a conditional offer while your eligibility for the California Dream Service Incentive Grant (DSIG) is still being finalized.
- DSIG eligibility decisions may not be fully confirmed until later in the summer (typically July).
- While financial aid eligibility is being finalized, you should continue completing all other onboarding steps to remain on track for full enrollment.
Financial Aid Follow-Up
- All Fellows are required to meet with Miriam Lemus (College Corps Financial Aid Liaison) to:
- Review your final financial aid package.
- Complete any additional steps to finalize your College Corps financial aid package.
- Miriam will review how College Corps funding fits into your full financial aid package and help answer any questions you may have.

For Domestic Fellows (U.S. Citizens & Permanent Residents):
Complete your MyAmeriCorps Enrollment in the MyAmeriCorps Portal (eGrants system).
As part of your enrollment, you will need to create and complete your MyAmeriCorps account to access your AmeriCorps Segal Education Award once you complete the program.
Process Overview
- Partial funding for your Education Award comes from the AmeriCorps Segal Education Award.
- In order to access this award after completing your 450 approved service hours, you must have a MyAmeriCorps account.
- College Corps staff will invite you to complete your MyAmeriCorps enrollment form. You do not need to create an account on your own.
Important Timing
- Your assigned College Corps Program Coordinator will notify you when it’s time to complete your MyAmeriCorps enrollment.
- We cannot invite you into MyAmeriCorps until:
- You have completed your Live Scan fingerprint appointment, and
- SF State University Police Department (UPD) has received and cleared your background check results.
- This is why completing your Live Scan appointment as early as possible is critical.
Program Participation Note
- You cannot officially begin service or be enrolled into the College Corps program until your MyAmeriCorps enrollment is complete.
For AB 540 / CA Dream Act Fellows:
- Complete your California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant (DSIG) Application.
- Your assigned College Corps Coordinator will send you a DocuSign link after your host site placement is confirmed.
As part of your onboarding, AB 540 / Dream Act Fellows are required to complete the California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant (DSIG) Program Application for Academic Year 2025–2026.
Completing the DSIG application ensures you are fully enrolled and eligible for participation in College Corps as an AB 540 / Dream Act student.
🔽 How to Complete the DSIG Application
- Once your host site placement is confirmed, your assigned College Corps Program Coordinator will send you the required DSIG application via DocuSign.
- Follow the instructions in the DocuSign email to complete and submit your application.
- Submit your DSIG application promptly to avoid delays in your enrollment.
📧 Questions?
Contact your assigned College Corps Coordinator if you need assistance with your DSIG application.
You will complete this step - once you get confirmation from the college corps coordinators that we received your Livescan results and ready to proceed to complete this step.
Audience: All Fellows (Domestic U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents and AB 540 Dream Act Students)
As part of onboarding, Fellows must create their America Learns (AL) account and complete the Impact Suite Certification Course (asynchronous training).
America Learns Overview
- College Corps uses America Learns (AL) as the official platform to:
- Track your service hours.
- Facilitate communication with California Volunteers (CV).
- Submit your bi-weekly service logs.
- Manage your living allowance disbursements and verify hours for your Education Award eligibility.
- Your assigned site supervisor will review and approve the hours you log in America Learns.
Getting Started
- Click on the America Learns button below to create your account and begin the asynchronous Impact Suite Certification Course.
Deadline
- Please complete your America Learns account setup and training immediately after you received invitation to create an AL account.
Audience: All Fellows (Domestic U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents and AB 540 Dream Act Students)
Before officially starting service, Fellows must review and sign the Fellow Service Agreement.
Timing
You will receive your Fellow Service Agreement via DocuSign after:
- You have been matched to your assigned host site.
- You have completed your Live Scan appointment and your background check results have cleared.
The agreement will be sent to your SF State email address via DocuSign for your electronic signature.
Deadline
- Please review and sign your Fellow Service Agreement as soon as you receive it.
Matching Process
College Corps staff will review:
- Your class schedule
- Your selected focus area
- Program needs and available community partner sites
We do our best to match you with a host site that aligns with your academic schedule and service interests.
Additional Onboarding (Once Matched)
Some community partner host sites require additional onboarding paperwork before you can begin service. If assigned to one of these sites, you will be required to complete a site-specific onboarding packet. This may include:
- TB Tests
- Volunteer paperwork
- Site-specific forms or clearances
Important Clarification
While some host sites may use the term “volunteer” for administrative purposes, College Corps is not a volunteer opportunity. This is a paid service fellowship that provides:
- Professional development
- Networking opportunities
- Skill-building experience
- A living allowance and Education Award
Fellows are expected to meet all program requirements, including:
- Completing assigned service hours
- Attending scheduled shifts
- Following all program policies
Although host sites may refer to Fellows as "volunteers" for administrative reasons (since they are not directly compensating Fellows), this does not change your status as a College Corps Fellow.
Action Required (Once Matched)
If your assigned host site requires additional onboarding, your assigned College Corps Program Coordinator will notify you after your placement is confirmed. You will then receive a link to complete your site onboarding packet through DocuSign or Google Form.
