FELLOWS
We are currently in the process of reviewing with Financial Aid (FA) those students who have been conditionally offered a position with College Corps. Your assigned program coordinator, will reach out to you the status of your eligibility.
Once you have been offered a position with College Corps, we will provide you with the contact information of our FA College Corps coordinator, should you have any further questions.
Welcome!
Before students can begin with the College Corps program, there are several onboarding steps that students need to complete. Below provides you with the steps, information, and deadlines to get you started.
ONBOARDING/ENROLLMENT CHECKLIST
To begin and have an "enrolled" status in the College Corps program, all students must complete the following:
Audience: All Fellows [includes Domestic (U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents) and AB 540 Dream Act students]
-
Before Fellows can begin the background check process, you will need to review, complete, and sign the Background Check Authorization Form through DocuSign.
-
To review and sign this form click on the button below. When directed enter your name and SF State email address (@sfsu.edu/@mail.sfsu.edu). If you use your personal email such as @gmail.com you will not be able to pass authentication and access DocuSign. Note: You will be viewing and signing this through DocuSign. All students have an SF State DocuSign account. How to access and log into your account
-
Tip: Log into your SF State DocuSign account first and then click on the College Corps Background Check Authorization Form button below. If you do not and/or log in and use your SF State email address - the system will recognize you as not part of the SF State network and ask you for a code, preventing you from viewing the DocuSign form.
-
You will be asked to upload a government-issued photo identification card (such as a driver’s license) for your identity to be verified.
-
Once you input your name and email for the first time, you will be emailed a validation code to access the portal, which you will then sign the authorization form and upload a government-issued photo ID.
-
Deadline: Please complete it immediately. Within one week of receiving your "Conditional acceptance - Onboarding/Enrollment Checklist To Do" email from your assigned college corps coordinator.
Audience: All Fellows [includes Domestic (U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents) and AB 540 Dream Act students]
-
Refer to Steps to Complete Background Check button below
-
It is important that you complete this process as soon as possible because results take up to 4-6 weeks.
-
Livescan/fingerprint services through SF State UPD are available via appointment only. Make sure you reserve an appointment asap, slot times go fast!
-
Deadline: Make an appointment with SF State UPD and physically get this Live Scan/fingerprint process done ASAP. We cannot move forward with your enrollment into the program until this happens.
-
Note: If you are not in the SF/Bay Area in the June-July month to get Live Scan background clearance with SF State UPD, please contact college corps staff (Elizabeth or Samantha) asap.
Audience: All Fellows [includes Domestic (U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents) and AB 540 Dream Act students]
-
To celebrate and document the amazing service that you provide to our communities, we may use group photos and individual photos. We will always ask permission ahead of time to confirm.

Partial funding of your Education Award is funding by the AmeriCorps Segal Ed. Award. In order for students to receive and access this Segal award upon completion of the 450-hour service requirement, this happens through your own individual MyAmeriCorps account.
-
SF State College Corps (CC) staff will invite you to complete an enrollment form. While you wait for an invite, continue with the onboarding/enrollment checklist.
-
Deadline:
-
Your assigned CC program coordinator will directly communicate to you when to complete because we have to invite you to enroll in the MyAmeriCorps system AFTER you complete your Livescan (fingerprinting background check) and SF State University Police Department (UPD) has received your results.
-
This is why it is very important to get your Livescan done as soon as possible. You cannot start the program until you are enrolled in the MyAmeriCorps system.
-
Audience: Fellows assigned to the following organizations require additional onboarding paperwork and require their Fellows to complete a "volunteer" packet.*
Please refer to the buttons to complete the packet via DocuSign or Google Form.
*Note: This is a paid service fellowship that provides participants with professional development and the opportunity to network, gain skills, and work with and for community host organizations. This is not a "volunteer opportunity"* and students participating in this program are expected to complete all programmatic requirements and expectations. In general, volunteering is simply the act of "voluntarily" giving your time and energy to help a cause, Normally, the volunteer receives no tangible benefits in return, such as a living allowance, education award, etc. from the work. College Corps fellows sometimes will be interchangeably be called a "volunteer" at their community host site because the host site is not directly compensating the fellows but this does not mean that Fellows are "volunteering" their time and can choose not to do their required service hours or not show up to scheduled shifts.
Audience: All Fellows [includes Domestic (U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents) and AB 540 Dream Act students]
-
Fellows need to create their America Learns (AL) account.
-
Complete the America Learns (AL) asynchronous training
Refer to the America Learns button below.
College Corps uses the AL online platform to track your service and this is also, where California Volunteers (CV) uses to communicate with you. AL is where you will post your hours bi-weekly and then your community host organization site supervisor will review and approve. Hours inputted in AL, is how we verify your hours for your living allowance disbursement every month and education award at the end of your service term.
Deadline: Please complete it immediately.
Audience: All Fellows [includes Domestic (U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents) and AB 540 Dream Act students]
- SF State College Corps (CC) staff will send this to you via DocuSign, once you have been matched and assigned to your host organization site.
This check-in is to review with you the onboarding enrollment/checklist and status and any questions you may have.
