As part of the College Corps onboarding process, ICCE works closely with the Office of Student Financial Aid to review student eligibility for College Corps funding.

All Fellows are required to meet with Miriam Lemus, College Corps Financial Aid Liaison, to review and confirm acceptance of their College Corps financial aid package.

During this process, students will review how College Corps funding fits within their overall financial aid package. In some cases, participation in College Corps may require adjustments to existing financial aid awards, loans, and/or Federal Work-Study funding in order to fit College Corps aid within a student’s financial aid package.

AB 540 Students:

  • California Dream Service Incentive Grant (DSIG) eligibility reviews may continue into the summer
  • Final DSIG determinations are often completed later in the summer
  • Students should continue completing all onboarding requirements while eligibility review is underway

Required Financial Aid Follow-Up

During your meeting, you may:

  • Review your financial aid package
  • Discuss possible financial aid adjustments
  • Complete remaining financial aid steps
  • Ask questions related to College Corps and financial aid

Host site placements will be finalized after onboarding review, eligibility verification, and program matching are completed.

Matching Process

College Corps staff consider several factors during the placement process, including:

  • Your class schedule and availability
  • Your selected focus area(s)
  • Your preferred host site selections
  • Transportation and scheduling considerations
  • Community partner and program needs

Our team works to match Fellows with host sites that align with their schedules, interests, and program goals. While we carefully review student preferences, placement at a specific host site cannot be guaranteed.

Additional Host Site Onboarding

Some host sites require additional onboarding or clearance steps before Fellows may begin service. Depending on the placement site, additional requirements may include:

  • Volunteer or onboarding paperwork
  • TB testing or immunization documentation
  • Site-specific trainings
  • Additional forms or clearances

If additional onboarding is required, your assigned College Corps Program Coordinator will contact you after your placement has been confirmed.

Important Information

Some host sites may use the term “volunteer” for administrative or compliance purposes. However, College Corps is a paid service fellowship program. Fellows receive:

  • Professional development and training
  • Skill-building and career experience
  • A living allowance
  • An Education Award upon successful completion of the program

Participation Expectations

All Fellows are expected to:

  • Complete required service hours
  • Attend scheduled shifts and trainings
  • Follow program and host site policies
  • Maintain communication with supervisors and College Corps staff
