Headlines: Fall 2022 Recap

Special thank you to the SF State community who donated to the 2022 SF State Toy Drive. We were able to have over 275 gifts donated to children aged 0-17 at the OMI/Lakeshore Toy Giveaway and Celebration on December 16, 2022.  ICCE and Child Adolescent Development Club members along with College Corp Fellows wrapped toys diligently over the course of three days and volunteered with our OMI / Lakeshore neighbors, serving over 1000 families that day! Also, a special shout-out to the SF State Undergraduate Recruitment team for the community swag and tabling. Read more and event photos.

In the effort to facilitate and mobilize the SF State community to register to vote and turn out to vote, voter registration days were held in mid-October leading up to the Nov. 4th, 2022 elections in collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Elections.

The Gator Votes Initiative is a campus-wide partnership that will continue to encourage our campus community members to exercise their right to vote and are committed to increasing nonpartisan democratic engagement and empowering student voting by engaging our campus community in local and general elections.

On October 20, 2022, San Francisco’s three district attorney candidates Joe Alioto Veronese, Brooke Jenkins, and John Hamasaki, spoke at Jack Adams Hall.

Over 150 attendees gathered to listen to the candidates share their perspectives and responded to audience questions prior to the November special election. This event was hosted in collaboration with Project Rebound, ICCE, the Department of Criminal Justice Studies, and the Juvenile Justice Providers’ Association.

As the campus community returned to in-person this fall, we were excited to once again host the Service & Internship Fair, which featured over 50 organizations in the fields of education, health and human services, recreation, civic/government, advocacy/legal, and business. This September 14th event allowed the campus community to learn about internships, service learning, and volunteer opportunities and to meet community changemakers as they shared their impact on Bay Area communities.
