Monica Barboza

Ms. Barboza is a former Willie L. Brown, Jr. Fellow from 2019 and a San Francisco State University MPA alumna. She brings first hand experience of how the fellowship supports students who face barriers to entering the public sector. She credits the program with helping her build strong relationships with public sector leaders. These mentors shaped her path after graduation.

After college, she worked with Mission Language and Vocational School in partnership with the Latino Task Force to support COVID relief efforts. She later served as a Community Program Coordinator at La Cocina, an incubator kitchen nonprofit. In her role as Willie L. Brown, Jr. Fellowship Program Director, she now supports incoming Fellows and helps guide their academic and professional success.
