For Confirmed Organization Attendees
Reminder: This page is intended for organizations who have RSVP’d and received confirmation from ICCE.
Overview
📍 Location & Check-In
- You’ll be tabling on the Quad. ICCE will under purple tents—banners and signage will guide you.
- Check in at any of the three tents when you arrive.
- To ensure a smooth setup, arrive by 11:30 AM. Check-in opens at 11:00 AM, and the fair begins at noon, which aligns with peak student traffic.
- Only confirmed organizations that submitted an RSVP may table.
🚗 Parking
- There is no cost to participate in the Fair. ICCE covers tables, chairs, and tents.
- Due to budget constraints, we cannot provide parking passes—thank you for your understanding.
- We recommend parking in Lot 20 and permits can be purchased via the PayByPhone ap.
- See the walking route to the Quad below, and consider bringing a cart or rolling bag to help transport your materials from Lot 20.

✅ What’s Provided:
- One 6’x3’ table and 2 chairs (at no cost to you)
- Student and staff support during check-in
- Prime outdoor tabling space in The Quad
🧳 What to Bring:
- Flyers, pamphlets, and a listing of available opportunities
- A tablecloth and visual display (signage, banners, etc.)

- Post your opportunities in advance. Log in to your SF State ULink organizational profile to share internships, volunteer roles, or service opportunities before the event.

- Be approachable. Feel free to move around and stand in front of your table to welcome students as they pass.
- Network with neighbors. The Fair is a great opportunity to connect not just with students, but also with fellow organizations and City agencies.
- Plan for transport. The walk from Lot 20 to the Quad can be a haul—bring a cart or rolling bag if you have heavier materials.
- Dress for comfort. Wear comfortable shoes (there are small hills and pavement), and dress in layers for changing outdoor weather.
- Pack for the elements. If it’s sunny, bring sunscreen and a hat. If it’s breezy, paperweights can help keep materials from flying away.
💰 Why aren't lunch and parking permits provided?
We’d love to provide lunch and parking permits, but our current budget doesn’t allow for it. That said, there is no fee to participate in ICCE’s Service & Internship Fair. Unlike other university fairs that charge for vendor space, we cover the cost of renting tables, chairs, and tents, and we do not pass these costs on to you. Lunch options are available in the Cesar Chavez Student Center.
🚶 Why do students come in waves during the Fair?
The Fair is intentionally scheduled during peak lunchtime hours when student foot traffic is highest. You’ll notice a steady flow, with larger waves of students passing through as classes let out.
💸 Many students are asking about paid positions—is that expected?
Yes. Many students are hoping for paid roles, and if your organization offers them, that's great! However, most students understand that community-based partners offer unpaid internships, volunteer roles, or service-learning placements. If students ask about jobs, feel free to direct them to the ICCE tent, where we’ll connect them with Career Services & Leadership Development and Handshake (SF State’s job platform).
🧭 How is ICCE different from Career Services & Leadership Development (CLD)?
ICCE focuses on community-engaged learning, supporting students enrolled in academic courses that require internships or service-learning placements. All organizations at the Fair have an active Learning Site Placement Agreement (LPSA) with the university. CLD, housed under Graduate Studies, supports career readiness, including résumé building, interview prep, and job search tools. They also manage Handshake, SF State’s job platform.
🧠 How is community service learning (CSL) different from community service?
- Community service can be done anytime and for any reason.
- CSL involves service tied to a credit-bearing academic course and includes:
- Critical reflection
- Mutual benefit for students and community
- Structured learning objectives
CSL courses typically require 20+ hours per semester. Internships—which may or may not be credit-bearing—can require 80–120+ hours and focus on professional development.
📝 Do students have to be enrolled in a course to work with my agency?
No. Students do not need to be in a course to work or volunteer with your agency. However, only those enrolled in a CSL or internship course will receive academic credit. Regardless, all students placed through ICCE must register in ULink.
📚 How do students receive credit for their hours?
Credit is earned only when students are enrolled in a CSL-designated or internship course.
- CSL students typically complete 20+ hours per semester
- Internship requirements vary but may exceed 100 hours
- Verified hours can be recorded on students’ official transcripts
Some majors (e.g., Education, Social Work) require internships as part of graduation.
📣 How can I promote my organization beyond the Fair?
- Post or update your opportunities on ULink at the start of each semester (January + August are ideal)
- Use detailed descriptions: title, tasks, timeline, interest areas, etc.
- Keep your contact information current in ULink
- Send ICCE a PDF flyer of your opportunities—we’ll:
- Share with faculty/departments
- Post on our office bulletin board
- Feature on our social media
