For Fellows
ADDITIONAL SERVICE + TRAINING HOURS - Day(s) of Service
College Corps Fellows can have opportunities to earn additional service hours outside their assigned primary host site to fit their schedules. Additional service hours can be done at a one-day, in-service event or volunteer day, or consistent ongoing additional site (with approval beforehand).*
This opportunity is meant to provide additional hours on top of your existing schedule with your assigned host site organization. Fellows should be earning the majority of their hours with their organization's host site. For summer 2026 extension, please connect with Meagan to discuss summer site options.
Step 1: Submit Additional Service or Training Hour Request Form
Prior to completing your Additional Service/Training Hours, College Fellows must submit a Additional Service Hours Request Form at least prior to the service date.*
This opportunity is meant to provide supplemental service hours to your existing schedule with your assigned host site organization. Fellows should be earning the majority of their hours with their organization's host site.
Additional Hours
College Corps Fellows have the opportunity to earn additional training hours by attending approved workshops outside of their assigned host site. These workshops are designed to enhance your professional development and enrich your overall College Corps experience.
Please note:
- Fellows should earn the majority of their service hours directly with their assigned Community Host Partner (CHP).
- Fellows may not log more than 90 total training hours in America Learns.
- These workshops are intended to provide additional not to replace your regular service schedule.
* Before completing additional training hours, Fellows must review the list of approved workshops to determine which sessions they are eligible to attend.
*After reviewing the options, Fellows may register for and attend a workshop of their choice.
Step 2: Submit Additional Service Hours Tracker
- Once you have submitted your Additional Service/Training Request Form, please print and fill out the Additional Service Hours Tracker. Once completing your additional site service hours, this tracker must be completed and signed off by a "Certify Person" from the service site for College Corp staff to confirm hours. “Certify Person” can be represented as the organization, lead supervisor, or person in charge during the day of service (example: lead volunteer, supervisor, registration coordinator, etc.)
- Once completed, please submit your Additional Service Hours Tracker (can be scanned or photo - be a very clear image) to collegcorps@sfsu.edu or drop off a physical copy to ICCE (HSS 206) to verify your extra service hours completed. This must be completed before or on the bi-weekly Sunday when timesheets are due. If hours are logged without the verification of hours fellows may not be eligible for their living allowance that month.
Step 3: Enter Additional Service or Training Hours in America Learns
- Once you submit your Additional Service Hours Tracker to College Corps/ICCE, you will upload these hours to your America Learns account.
- In America Learns you will enter your "additional Service Hours" under "San Francisco State" and categorize them under "service". Indicate in the description "additional service hours".
SF State College Corps staff will approve your "Additional Service Hours" in America Learns after verifying your Additional Service Hours Tracker.
You do not need to submit an Additional Service Hours tracker for Training hours. You are only required to fill out the google forms.
College Corps Fellows are welcome to find their own opportunities at sites other than their primary College Corps host sites to earn additional hours.
Note: We recommend that Fellows speak with their assigned organization site supervisor(s) because these sites may also have existing upcoming events/opportunities within their organization that you can do to earn additional hours on top of your set weekly schedule.
This opportunity is meant to supplement your existing schedule with your assigned host site organization. Fellows should be earning the majority of their hours with their organization's host site.
Reminder: Students are responsible for the tracking and uploading hours into America Learns and submitting the additional hours tracker on time.
