Call to Service Highlight – 2025 BioDesign Class Project

San Francisco State University’s 2025 BioDesign class, led by Assistant Professor Fernando Felicio Dos Santos De Carvalho and 2025 Call to Service Grantee, exemplifies a call to service through student-led innovation aimed at environmental stewardship. In partnership with Nature Conservancy, students developed creative, sustainable design solutions to help restore and protect California’s coastal bull kelp habitats. This hands-on project underscores a deep commitment to community engagement and ecological resilience.
